On November 30, 2011, Prof. Claus E. Rolfs and Prof. Dmitriy Pak were awarded the Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientist of Chinese Academy of Sciences in the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP-CAS).
Prof. Rolfs is a German physicist, who received his doctor's degree in physics in the Freiburg University in 1966. Prof. Rolfs has been working in the field of nuclear astrophysics for a long time. He will collaborate on this subject with Prof. HE Jianjun at the IMP.
Prof. Pak is a senior scientist at the Uzbekistan National University, who is a distinguished Scholar in the nonperturbative field. He gave a talk titled by “Fundamental problems in modern QCD” at the certificate ceremony. He will collaborate on hadron physics and gauge field theory with Dr. ZHANG Pengming at the IMP.
The Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientist of CAS is the CAS’s top recognition for outstanding cooperative work. The award was created in 2009 honoring the foreign scientists’ exceptional scholarly merit with a primary emphasis on the collaboration with their Chinese partners to advance the research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
