Professor ZHAO Yapu from the Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), on July 26. During his visit, he delivered a lecture entitled Physical mechanical study on moving contact line: starting from coffee-ring effect to tap dance of liquid droplet.
In his lecture, taking the coffee-ring effect and tap dance of liquid drop as an example, Professor ZHAO explained the physical issues in moving contact line (MCL) under multi-physical field coupling, including experimental research on electrowetting, theoretical analysis based on molecular dynamics and molecular dynamics simulation.
Professor ZHAO’s research interests include micro/nano-mechanics, physical mechanics and impact dynamics. He received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2002. He is now the editor of Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology. He has published more than 100 papers in Physical Review Letters, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Proceedings of the Royal Society A, etc.
