According to the Gansu Daily on April 29, 2007, the news, Prof. Cheng Guodong , the presdent of Lanzhou Branch of CAS, and CAS Academician, was elected as the representative of the 17th National Representatives Congress of CCP 　　　  It is reported, Prof. Cheng Guodong was elected as the representative in the 11th Gansu Provincial Representative assembly of CCP in April 28, 2007,in which, 38 representatives was elected to join the 17th National Representatives Congress of CCP in Beijing.
