In the 2006 year’s State Science and Technology Reward Congress,  two Science Research Achievements from the Institutes of Lanzou Branch of CAS 　was awarded the State Prizes. These two achievements are: " The Preparation and Performance  of Advanced Lubricant Matierals " completed by Prof. Liu Weimin and others from the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics Research of CAS, which awarded the Second Degree State Prize for Natural Sciences, and the "Chinese Glacier Distribution And Resources Investigation" completed by Prof.Shi Yafeng who is the CAS Senior Academician and others from the Institute of Cold-Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research, CAS, which awarded the Second Degree State Prize for Science and Technology Progress.
