The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) announces the list of its 2009’ Outstanding Technology Talent recently, with Prof. GAO Daqing from Institute of Modern Physics(IMP),CAS being elected as one of the Key Technology Talents.

　　  Prof. GAO has been engaging in the research and design for accelerator power supply, and has accomplished remarkable achievements in high stability and pulse power supply technology.

　　He has made significant contributions to the construction of the power supply for Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou-Cooling Storage Ring (HIRFL-CSR). He designed the CSR power supply system, the high-power pulse power supply, the high-power pulse thyristor power supply, and the fast pulse kicker magnet power supply, which has solved the technological problems at CSR. It has been proved that the CSR power supply system is stable and meets the technological requirements after the CSR has been put into operation for several years.

　　The power supply systems for 320 KV platform, cancer therapy terminals, micro beam terminal, ultra terminal, etc. were also designed by Prof. GAO.　　 Prof. GAO has also made significant contributions to the power supply technology at HIRFL
