Sub-project of the Key Project Supported by National Key Technology R&D Program Undertaken by LICP Passed Acceptance Test

   "Comprehensive Utilization Technique of Non-Petroleum-Based Bulk Oxygen-Containing Compounds” project, mainly undertaken by the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), CAS, passed the acceptance test organized by China National Chemical Corporation (CHEMCHINA) in Beijing on March 19, 2010.The project is one of the sub-projects of the “Development of Key Techniques for the Preparation of Bulk Chemicals Through Non-oil Route” project (key project supported by the National Key Technology R&D Program in the 11th Five-Year Plan).

   Related leaders from the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, China National Chemical Corporation and Bureau of High-Tech Research and Development of the CAS, 11 experts, project directors and main project group member attended the acceptance meeting.

   Prof. HU Qianlin, director of the Sci-Tech Division of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association (CPCIA) was the head of the expert group. And Prof. CHEN Jianfeng from Beijing University of Chemical Technology was the vice group leader.

   The “Comprehensive Utilization Technique of Non-Petroleum-Based Bulk Oxygen-Containing Compounds” project was jointly undertaken by LICP, Southwest Research & Design Institute of Chemical Industry, Chengdu Organic Chemicals Corporation of the CAS and Tianjin University.

   During the acceptance meeting, the experts group first heard the summary report presented by project leader Prof. XIA Chungu, special research reports made by Prof. WANG Yue, Prof. MA Xinbin and Prof. CHEN Jing respectively. Then they went over the project acceptance report, financial auditing report and other documents.

   After the in-depth review and careful discussion, the experts held that acceptance documents provided by the research group were complete and conformed to the acceptance standards and requirements of the National Key Technology R&D Program; both the performing and participating organizations have fulfilled their respective task.They approved unanimously the pass of the acceptance check. And they suggested that the state authorities concerned continue supporting the project in the 12th Five-Year Plan to speed up the industrialization process of the preparation of bulk chemicals through non-oil route.

   Through 3 years of hard work, a series of research achievements with independent intellectual property right have been accomplished by the researchers. For example, the technical problem of the removal of organic sulfur with high content from yellow phosphorus tail gas was solved. The catalyst and process for the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate with the joint production of ethylene glycol through the reaction between ethylene carbonate and methanol were developed independently, with which the industrial application of iconic liquids was realized. Researchers also developed the new multi-component composite catalyst for the non-phosgene clean synthesis of diphenyl carbonate and its preparation technique, new technique for the synthesis of trioxane catalyzed by functionalized ionic liquid with independent property right instead of liquid acid, etc.
