6th Public Science Day Celebrated at IMP

   The Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), CAS held a two-day opening event from May 15 to 16 to celebrate the 6th Public Science Day.

  IMP staff showed the visitors the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL) and the exhibition of scientific achievements, and scientific lectures were given thereafter.

  The 6th Public Science Day has raised public awareness about the importance of science education in China, and heightened the enthusiasm for science and technology learning and understanding across all demographics. The visitors praised the large-scale scientific project of Cooling Storage Ring (CSR) and admired the 20 new nuclides synthesized at HIRFL. The visitors also showed great interest in the clinical study and industrialization of heavy ion cancer therapy at IMP.

  In this event IMP received 1128 visitors from 32 institutions, such as School of Nuclear Science & Technology at Lanzhou University, School of Physics at Lanzhou University, High School attached to Lanzhou University, School of Physics & Electronics at Northwest Normal University, School of Technology & Engineering at Lanzhou University of Technology, Lanzhou No. 10 Middle School, Gansu Health School, Lanzhou University of Finance & Economics, Gansu Agriculture University, Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, CAS, Lanzhou No.2 Middle School, Lanzhou Military Region, China Merchants Bank, Lanzhou Administration of Industry & Commerce, and Gansu Business School etc.

  Journalists from Gansu Television (GSTV), Lanzhou Television (LZTV) and Lanzhou Evening News gave live coverage of the opening event.
