Prof. WANG Zhiguang from Institute of Modern Physics(IMP), CAS was elected as a new member of International Committee (IC) at the IC meeting during the 24th International Conference on Atomic Collisions in Solids (ICACS-24) held in Krakow, Poland on 18-23 July 2010. Prof. WANG has been engaged in the studies on energetic ion beams – matter interactions for more than twenty years and obtained great achievements in the areas.

ICACS is a biannual international conference which was initiated in 1965. It deals with physical and chemical phenomena induced by the interaction of low and high energy beams (hyperthermal up to relativistic velocities) of charged or dressed neutral particles (singly up to highly charged ions, atoms and clusters, ...) with the surface and the bulk of solids and liquids. The emphasis is on fundamental processes (experiment, theory and computer simulations), challenging scientific and technological applications as well as new developments in experimental techniques. ICACS is of a great importance and full of vivid activities in the field of energetic beams – matter interactions. During the past several decades, major international applications conferences like IBMM (ion beam modification of Materials), IBA (ion beam analysis) and REI (radiation effects in insulators) have grown out of the ICACS.
