Mr. XIE Ming, the vice director of IMP, on behalf of CAS, presented the certificate of CAS Visiting Professorship to Prof.Aleksander Voitkiv, who is doing research presently at the Max-Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Germany. Mr. XIE gave a brief introduction of Prof. Voitkiv‘s academic background, the cooperation between Prof. Voitkiv and IMP, as well as the Visiting Professorships Program of CAS. He also put forward suggestions for further collaboration. Prof. Voitkiv expressed his expectation for the fruitful cooperation on the research work in the future.

During his stay, Prof. Voitkiv gave talks on Inelastic collisions of relativistic electrons with atomic targets in laser field and on Two-center dielectronic recombination and photo ionization. In his talks, he presented his theoretical calculation predicting that the presence of neighboring centers at nanometer distances can very strongly enhance the recombination (or attachment) and photoionization cross sections. And a series of seminars were given on ion-atom collision dynamics in atomic physics group. The future physics possibility on ion-atom collision dynamics at CSRe(Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou-Cooling Storage Experimental Ring)were discussed. 

Being an expert in Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, Prof.Voitkiv achieved the Research Fellowship awarded by the Alexander von Humbold Foundation in 1999 and the Research Fellowship awarded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in 2006.
