BIAN Shuguang, deputy director-general of Qinghai Science and Technology Department (QSTD), ZHANG Jingsong, an prominent expert of the state '863' new material division, as well as HE Zhi,  deputy chief of the hi-tech department of QSTD  surveyed at ISL with respect to the institute's research planning, research disciplines and scopes on August 24th 2010.

ISL Deputy Director JIA Youliang firstly introduced the background for ISL’s establishment, and made a report on the institute's key disciplinary areas, main research interests, and major studies in materials during the latest five years, as well as some major plans expected to be performed in the coming years.

Bian Shuguang made a brief account of the framework of MOST's 12th Five-Year Plan in new materials. He hopes that the institute will make a further carding of its scientific achievements, successively enhance its own innovativeness, break through technical issues, cater to national and market needs, and boost the industrialization of projects. .

ISL researchers in materials attended the meeting and exchanged their ideas on the technical issues, alternatives of solutions, and the prospects of industrialization for some particular projects.
