The 10th Chinese Mineral Deposit Conference was held in Huatian Hotel, Changchun Sept. 19th  through 25th. Academicians CHEN Yuchuan, LI Tingdong, PEI Rongfu, ZHAI Yusheng and other experts and scholars from CAS and CAE, MENG Xianlai, executive vice president of Geological Society of China, YE Tianzhu, chief engineer of National Mineral Resources Potential Valuation Project Office, WANG Qi, director of discipline inspection group of Jilin Provincial Science & Technology Department and leaders of other organizations, as well as almost one thousand delegates from over 140 domestic research institutions, colleges and universities, geological mapping and mining industry departments attended the conference. ISL sent a delegation of 9 geological researchers and postgraduates to this event.

The conference set “keep a foothold on domestic deep-dig potential, solve problems, improve national mineral resources safeguarding abilities by a large margin” as its theme. It lasted for 7 days, and the academic activities included the academic forum before this conference, plenary lecture, conference discussion topic and geological mapping after this conference. It set promoting academic exchange, impelling the fuse of academy and perambulation, improving the theoretical research level of mineralization and the efficiency of searching for minerals as its purposes, and arranged 22 discussion topics, involving the mineralizing process and mineral dressing law of the continent epigenetic zone, and the mineralizing process of uranium mine and valuation of searching for mineral resources, as well as such related fields as solid fuels and mineral resources and petroleum resources. Nearly 400 representatives from abroad and home exchanged ideas and made statements, showing the new progress in mineralizing theories and mineral resources researching area of the recent years, and discussing the new problems and new challenges that mineral resource related fields faced. ZHANG Xiying, research assistant of ISL made a report at the conference named Preliminary Study on the Origin of Tachydrite in Leopoldite Deposits on the Khorat Plateau. 

The conference promoted academic exchanges between geological researchers of ISL and other Chinese researchers in pertinent fields, which will definitely benefit the academic studies of geological researches in ISL.
