On November 6, 2010, a framework agreement signing ceremony was held by South China Agricultural University(SCAU), Institute of Modern Physics(IMP), CAS and Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, CAS(CASHIPS).　

Prof. Li Dasheng, the CPC Secretary of SCAU, extended a welcome speech firstly, and then Prof. XIAO Guoqing, the Director of IMP and Prof. WU Lijun from CASHIPS introduced the research Informationof their institutes, respectively.Director XIAO saidSCAU is one of earliest organizations in China which carry out the research in space mutation breeding and it has made marked achievement in space breeding, germplasm creation and mechanism study, thus making great contributions to the development of Chinese agriculture. IMP, as one of the internationally renowned research centers of heavy ion physics, has the largest heavy ion facility and bore a series of research fruits in heavy ion physics, radioactive ion beam physics and the application of heavy ions in many fields such as aerospace and biology. The cooperation agreement between IMP and SCAU is an indication of strong association between the two units, which helps take advantages of each other. The association will enhance the development of plant mutation breeding technology and furthermore, make greater contributions to plant breeding and food security in China, consequently writing a new chapter in win-win cooperation.

After the ceremony, vice president CHEN Zhiqiang from SCAU showed the experts around the campus of SCAU,National Engineering Center of Botanical Space Breeding and Base of Original species propagation of Rice.
