The workshop on Dark Matter Detection Satellite was held at Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP-CAS) from October 8 to 9, 2011.
The Dark Matter Detection Satellite has been proposed to search for the existence evidences of dark matter, and analyze their physical properties by exploring high-energy electron and γ-irradiation. It is a sub-project of CAS Strategic Pioneer Project “Space Science”.
The workshop aims to provide an opportunity for the researchers in this project to exchange their respective experience of Project Tasks, to discuss deeply about the physics, detectors, electronics, to solve the facing scientific and technical challenges of Dark Matter Detection Satellite, to formulate the next work plan.
During the workshop, Prof. XIAO Guoqing, the director of IMP, and Prof. XU Hushan, the vice director of IMP, presented at the workshop and expressed warm welcome to the participants. Prof. CHANG Jin, as the Chief Scientist of the project “Dark Matter Detection Satellite”, from Purple Mountain Observatory, CAS (PMO), introduced the international status of dark matter research and the satellite detection plan of China.
Over 30 researchers from CAS and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) participated in the workshop.
