The 1st Italian/Chinese Bilateral Workshop on COSMICRAD was held at the Institute of Modern Physics(IMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences in Lanzhou on September 4th.

About 30 researcher from both China and Italy attended the two-day’s workshop. Four themes and topics were discussed during the workshop：1) Recent progress of space radiobiology with heavy ions; 2) Progress of in vivo mechanisms of neutron radiation effects; 3) Perspectives on microRNA profiling as novel countermeasure tool; 4) Frontier topics on internal diamond dosimetry and interdisciplinary research. The workshop was also to lay out research guidelines to facilitate bilateral collaboration on the research about long term human permanence in deep space.

The director of IMP, Dr. Guoqing Xiao delivered the opening speech and introduced the IMP to all the participants followed by signings of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Carmela Marino from the ENEA and Dr. Emanuele Pace, the representative of the University of Florence respectively.
