On November 7 to 10, the Symposium on Precision Experiments with Stored Exotic and Stable Ions took place at Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP) in Lanzhou, China.

The symposium came from a joint proposal of Professor Yuhu Zhang from the IMP and Dr. Yuri Litvinov from GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung (GSI) with sponsorship of the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion.

The seminar focused on the following subject matters: the current physical experiments and short-term planning, expectations for project based on storage ring and complementary research plans, beam control technology and development of new equipment.

37 scientists from China, Germany, Japan, and Britain who are in the forefront of the storage ring physics attended the seminar and more than thirty students and young research staff from home and abroad participated in the meeting as well.

The attending scientists gave 37 talks covering the highly charged heavy ions in related experiments, theory and technology aspects.

China and Germany are currently in the middle of building next generation accelerators.  The symposium will help promote the bilateral cooperation in the storage ring physics and other fields involved.
