CAS Member Qin Dahe was granted 2013 the Volvo Environment Prize on Dec. 27 in Stockholm. 

Prof. Qin reviewed the special position of Stockholm in the field of sustainable development and environmental protection, summarized the outstanding contributions of the Prof. Bert Bolin for promoting the development of IPCC. Otherwise, Prof. Qin also introduced achievements and pressures of China in the field of environmental protection and energy conservation and emission reduction. 

More than 300 people, who come from scientific, political and environmental protection circles, attended the ceremony. Scientist from Sweden highly praised the Prof. Qin’s remarkable contributions to promoting the modernization of meteorological undertaking and the development of the cryospheric sciences and climatic change. 

Prof. Qin also carried on academic communications with scientists from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the University of Gothenvurg after the ceremony.
