The Provincial Governor Liu Weiping visited CAS Member Lai Yuanming on Dec. 30, 2013. Liu thanked for Prof. Lai’s contributions to the national and local developments in the field of frozen soil, and extended holiday greetings and best wishes to Prof. Lai for the coming year. 

Liu mentioned, Gansu is situated in seasonal frozen soil region, the road contribution in Gansu is still lags behind other provinces, and there are many problems in highway constructions. Therefore, the provincial Governor hoped Prof. Lai used his research achievements to help the local development and constructions.  

Prof. Lai thanked for the concerns from the provincial government, he said he would continue to strengthen the research in the field of frozen soil engineering, and tried hard to make greater research achievements. He also said he would combine scientific research with the concrete practice in Gansu province, and made greater contributions to the construction of local development. 

Moreover, Provincial Governor communicated with Prof. Lai in the field of the highway roadbed subsidence, the land surface subsidence and the prevention of water migration.
