The Secretary-general of the CPC Gansu Provincial Committee Li Jianhua visited CAS Member Cheng Guodong on Jan. 17, 2014. Li thanked for Prof. Cheng’s contributions to the national and local developments in the field of frozen soil, and extended holiday greetings and best wishes to Prof. Cheng for the coming year. 

Li communicated with Prof. Cheng in the field of the population growth in Heihe Basin, the utilization of water resources, the desertification of land and the local economic and ecological development. Li also took suggestions from Prof. Cheng in the “mass line” campaign. Prof. Cheng indicated that the “mass line” campaign in Gansu was effective and impressive. 

Li expressed the admiration to Prof. Cheng’s highly responsibility and entrepreneur spirit. Prof. Cheng thanked for the concerns from the provincial government, he said he would promote the development of the research on the frozen soil, and tried hard to make greater research achievements to the construction of national and local development.
