EPICS Collaboration Meeting 2014 Held in Lanzhou

From May 19th to 23th 2014, the EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System) Collaboration Meeting 2014 was organized by Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP), in Lanzhou, Gansu. The managers and technical experts of control system from accelerator lab all over the world took part in this meeting and made relevant reports.    

EPICS is a mega control software system developed by LANL (Los Alamos National Lab) and ANL (Argonne National Laboratory) united in the 1990's. Since the EPICS is a free open source software, in order to update and maintain it as well as extend its application and popularization, the EPICS national conference is held two or three times every year. One of them is convoked in USA fixedly, while others are convened by the labs of Europe, Asia and Australia in turns. 

Nearly 30 professional presentations were stated by specialists and scholars, which are about the status and applications of EPICS, both in China and abroad. Moreover, several questions from audience were answered by lecturers in detail. 

In addition, the training of CSS (Control System Studio) and DISCS (Distributed Information Services for Control Systems) were presented by Bob Dalesio, Erik Klemen and Kay Kunal, whom are all from the development team of EPICS. In additional, Mr. Kai Yang from National Instruments also conducted a training of Labview-EPICS tools, which made a further understanding of EPICS to all the conventioneers. 

In the afternoon of May 21th, conventioneers visited the accelerators of HIRFL-CSR.
