The 7th China International Symposium on Tribology was held in Xuzhou from April 27 to April 29. The theme of the Symposium was “Toward tribology with capacity for sustainable development”.  More than 300 experts in tribology and students from America, Canada, Germany, Norway, Holland, Russia, South Korea, Japan and China attended the Symposium.

During the Symposium, Professor LU Ke, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and research fellow at Institute of Metal Research of the CAS, Professor Robert Heverly from the Society of Tribologists & Lubrication Engineers, Professor Wilfred T. Tysoe from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Professor Takahisa Kato from the University of Tokyo, Professor LIU Weimin, member of the CAS and research fellow at the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP) of the CAS delivered a plenary report respectively. During the branch meetings, researchers exchanged views concerning surface and coating, industrial tribology, basic things concerning lubrication and lubrication techniques, biotribology, nanao-tribology and nano-technique, micro-motion wear.

The Symposium has provided a platform for researchers from all over the world to communicate and exchange academic ideas and showed the latest development of tribology worldwide. It is expected to promote the study on tribology and cooperation between different countries and regions.

The Symposium was organized by of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, China University of Mining & Technology, State Key Laboratory of Tribology at Tsinghua University and State Key Laboratory of Solid Lubrication at the LICP of the CAS. It was sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Wuhan Institute of Materials Protection and Henan University of Science and Technology.
