Great progresses have been made in the project of "Research and Industrialization of the Mutation Breeding of Streptomyces Avermitilis Irradiated by Heavy Ion Beam".
In August 2009, the first test for the pilot production line of Avermectin was successfully performed. At present, the fermentation titer of the B1a is over 4300μg/ml by trial of the 5-ton tanks, which has reached the leading level of the domestic industry and laid the foundation for industrial production of Avermectin.
The project is conducted jointly by IMP (Institute of Modern Physics, CAS), Lanzhou Paiaoni Bio-Technology Company, and Gansu Xuejing Biochemical Co., Ltd, and supported by Academy-Locality Cooperation Project of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The high avermectin producing strain was successfully obtained after the mutagenesis processing by heavy ion beam and the screening of orthomutation strains; The basic growth characteristics of Streptomyces Avermitilis were grasped and the problem of degraded strain has been preferably solved through the strain separation, purification, screening and passage; The fermentation process problems of dissolved oxygen were primely resolved by the optimization and improvement of the fermentation process parameters.
