The atlas of vascular plants in Qilian Mountain has been published by the scientists and scholars from CAREERI (Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute) and Hexi University. The atlas fills a gap in the field of the vascular plants in Qilian Mountain.
Qilian Mountain is located in the junction of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Mongolia-Sinkiang Plateau and Loess Plateau, and the natural environment in Qilian Mountain is very unique, so it made the diversity of vascular plants in Qilian Mountain. According to the statistic data, there are over 1200 kinds of vascular plants in Qilian Mountain, and it is the most abundant region for plant diversity in Northwest China. Therefore, the atlas has an important significant for the research of plants in Northwest China.
Scientists and researchers investigated the diversity of vascular plants in Qilian Mountain for many years; they collected the 30,000 pictures and screened 2,196 pictures, compiled the atlas of vascular plants in Qilian Mountain. The Chinese name of plants in the atlas keeps correspondence with the Flora of China, and the plants in the atlas also has the indexes of Latin and Chinese.
